“Unlocking the potential of a grey sofa starts with occasional designs that bring a room to life.” Alinta shared. “Whether it’s a warm and inviting rug to anchor the space or a natural timber coffee table, selecting a few key pieces can completely transform the room.”  

1. Light colours will keep your room bright

A light grey sofa can pair with almost any colour, which means you can achieve any aesthetic you desire. Styling a light grey sofa with other light-coloured furniture is ideal for creating a brighter, more expansive looking space.  

To achieve a minimalist look, our designers recommend pairing a grey sofa with other shades of grey. “Pairing a grey sofa with an ottoman and cushions in the same colour emphasises cohesion and creates an elegant aesthetic,” Alinta explained. “This works well if you’re looking to create a minimalist style.” 

Opting for a light colour palette in your living room can make the room appear larger and brighter, which is ideal for smaller spaces. In a space with abundant natural light, furniture in light greys and browns can help to amplify the brightness. For homes with an open floor plan, choosing grey as the base in your colour palette creates a sense of cohesion and a seamless flow throughout the home.

5. Pair with brushed or polished metals for a modern aesthetic

“By layering soft creams, beiges, and greys in a space with natural light, you create a timeless design that feels connected to its surroundings. Adding dark accents, like side tables or decor, keeps the look balanced and sophisticated,” says Alinta. 

To further connect the indoor area to the natural surroundings, incorporate decor made from organic materials. For instance, a wooden bowl placed on the central coffee table ties the space to the greenery outside, reinforcing the room’s natural and serene aesthetic. 

7. Textural cushions and patterned cushions enhance your grey sofa
