The new KING outdoor fabric ranges capture the essence of the Australian landscape. From the ocean to the greenery and the red dust of the outback, the outdoor colour story elicits casual calm. The collections also feature a selection of versatile neutrals.
Eden Check Outdoor and Avoca Outdoor are both outdoor versions of the indoor fabrics by the same name. Modern and relaxed, the textural Eden features hand-drawn lines. The statement houndstooth pattern of Avoca elevates a casual aesthetic.
Available in a range of strikingly simple colourways, Shoalwater is canvas-like to touch. With a delicate basket weave design, Palm Cove is textural in appearance with four bold shades, each inspired by its beachside namesake.

Traditionally, outdoor furniture lends itself well to block colours in nature-inspired hues. But with the new collections, Sebastian Nash, KING Textile and Leather Development Manager, has opted to step towards visual texture and print.
He explains that the new textural elements in the outdoor range add visual interest to the space.
“When you look at Avoca from a distance, the watery houndstooth adds this beautiful movement,” he says. “In the garden, nothing is flat so light will always change the way things look. Under trees you also get a dappled light and the colours change.”

As you would expect from KING, the 100% solution dyed acrylic fabrics are all suitable for heavy duty outdoor use. Water resistant and UV stable, the fabrics can hold their own against the elements.
“I chose solution dyed acrylic fibres for these fabrics because they are proven and tested,” explains Sebastian. “They can withstand multiple UV and temperature situations and still hold their colour. The integrity of these yarns is brilliant.”
Rated between 20,000 to 35,000 rubs, the hard-wearing fabrics were engineered with the Australian climate in mind.

Indoor/outdoor styling
The new collection also reflects the ongoing trend towards seamless indoor/outdoor living. You can easily create flow from your indoor to outdoor with coordinating and complementary fabrics.
“Indoor and outdoor living spaces are very interconnected these days,” says Sebastian. “It’s not uncommon to have a dining table or sofa right outside the door. The story of these new outdoor fabrics plays into this, offering versatility for styling to connect the spaces.”
For a garden room or balcony off the living space, the outdoor fabrics work in with the KING indoor ranges to create a harmonious style.
Avoca Outdoor adds sophistication to any outdoor space.
“Green is the ultimate colour for the landscape architect,” explains Sebastian. “Green outdoor furniture will always sit softly within the garden. But spaces and style are evolving. If it suits the space to have a patterned sofa, go for it! A Zaza Outdoor Sofa in the Avoca houndstooth print would look so sophisticated in an outdoor space.
“You might have a Zaza Sofa indoors in a more neutral fabric. Opting for the same style of sofa creates that flow and you can lift the styling with a bolder pattern outdoors.”
